This week we have been learning to solve mathematical one step word problems. Yesterday we discussed all the words we know for add and subtract. Today we worked together in groups to solve some problems, we had to think really hard.
We had a busy day yesterday and Greg Chapman came into school in the afternoon to teach us about the history of Christmas. We learnt about the Christmas truce in WW1, that Princes Albert gave us the Christmas tree (he brought the tradition over from Germany) and that a long time ago London used to get lots of snow and the River Thames would freeze over, they used to build markets on the river and even drove horse and carts around it. To finish the show he told us a story called ‘A Christmas Carol’ by Charles Dickens.
We had an assembly yesterday to teach us more about Uganda. We leaner about mosquito nets and how important they are. Did you know that one mosquito net costs £1.50? That’s not very much at all considering it does a very important job! Mosquito nets save the life’s of lots of people around the world.
He must have got lost on his way to the Isle of Wight, at least he has found his way here now. Let’s hope he behaves himself!!
Great news!!! We have filled our pom-pom jar!!! We have chosen to have a party next week with games and party food 🍿🍫🍬🍪
This week has been fun filled and action packed! We have worked really hard to produce an amazing class assembly and we did not disappoint (even if we do blow our own trumpet 😁). We have completed lots of great work, investigating who entered our classroom on Monday night. We’ve even tried our hand at division and are confident that division is the same as sharing an amount. On Wednesday volunteers from the local church came and performed for us in assembly, we enjoy joining in with the story.
We found our classroom in quite a mess today, someone had been to visit us during the night. We spent the morning investigating and collecting evidence to try and work out who it could have been. In the end we narrowed it down to 2 suspects- The Snowman ⛄️ or Santa 🎅🏻
We will continue to investigate tomorrow.
